I was pretty excited to read Ruthless Player by R.C. Stephens after reading the first book from the Westfall U series. Wolfe and Rebel's story was such a fun read that I knew that Cole and Holland's story was going to be just as good and it did not disappoint.
Cole is known to be a "one and done" player just like Wolfe was. With the added pressure from a father who wants him to follow his footsteps and the grief for his mother, Cole has a problem with relationships.
Holland is a hard working, determined and focused woman guided by her ambitious and work centered father and a lack of a mother figure. Her strive to become a doctor has ruled over everything in her life. Fun was not in her vocabulary.
Between being best friends with Wolfe and Rebel, they are forced to get along for the sake of their friends.
Cole's reputation and Holland's no nonsense, no fun ethics had these two at odds with one another.
Holland struggles to balance her life and break out of her father's hold on it leads her to let loose and have a little fun. One drunken night with Cole and their lives are turned upside down and leads them down a road of discovery that will surprise you.
Ruthless Player is such an enjoyable read. I loved the build up of romance and mystery. I really fell in love with Cole in this book. It made me feel think of being young and in love once again.
Here's my girl, soul dog and book buddy, Pippa. Pippa gives Ruthless Player a 5 licks rating with a side of mud pie.
