Gunmetal Lily by Rebecca Royce; A Mafia Wars Series

June 2022

Gunmetal Lily by Rebecca Royce is a part of the 6 book series of the Mafia Wars. Each book written by a different author with a common plot tying 6 mafia families.

"I was sold to my enemies.

A deal made to keep the peace, but deals get broken all the time...

What did these powerful families have as collateral? Their daughters.

A decade earlier, they decided that we were expendable, that we could be sold in marriage to keep their dealings honest. I didn’t matter more than the security I could bring to the marketplace. I was twelve when they decided that, in ten years, I’d belong to the Hernandez family.

Everyone knew what was coming for me. Everyone…except me."

Although this book is technically the first book in the series, I ended up reading it after reading 4 first. It didn't really matter what order it is read in since they're all standalone that have a common thread.

Just like the first 4 that I read, this book ranked evenly with them. It was just as entertaining, steamy and romantic.

Javier and Francisco are pretty likeable from the beginning. I liked their boyish charisma with the protective fierceness they had for the people they loved.

Alejandro is the broody, tortured, responsible one with the world on his shoulders. Carrying the brunt of the family's responsibilities along with a tragic past... he took my heart with his pain and anguish with the unexpected twist.

Lily is a determined, strong, ambitious and unsuspecting young lady that was pulled from the life she had planned for to become the sacrificed wife to the Mexican Cartel. Her strong mind, will and ambition caries her through each torment, abuse and ordeal. Her strength of character shines through from start to finish.

Gunmetal Lily by Rebecca Royce is a great mafia romance/reverse harem story and the plot/storyline really works well with the other books in the series. It think that it's well written and quite enjoyable to read.

Now that I'm 1 book away from completing the series, I'm really hoping that there will be more collaborations with these authors in the future. I started only knowing one author in this series and am happy to have discovered 4 new authors so far. I'm sure the last book will be just as good as these.

Kudos to all the authors involved in this series. Their collaboration was seamless and flowed smoothly between each story. It was really well put together.
