"My life was never mine. And now, if I don’t figure a way out of this, I’ll become the next victim of the Mafia Wars."
Wilted Orchid by Loxley Savage is part of the Mafia Series 6 book collection. Each book is written by a different author with an intertwining plot between them. It's about 6 mafia families who agreed on a treaty to keep the peace between the warring families. Each family must marry off a daughter to another mafia family's next in line "don". They pick families from a hat and agree to marry off their daughter in 10 years.
Wilted Orchid is on New York's Cosa Nostra heir princess, Valentina, marrying off to the Chicago Outfit's newest "don", Salvatore.
The story starts off with Salvatore being in love with a woman, who is not the heir princess of the Cosa Nostra. As a result, the Cosa Nostra's head of the family and father of Valentina punishes Sal by killing the love of his life. This fuel's the flame of hatred by Salvatore and has turned him into a stone of a man that cared for nothing and no one.
When the time comes for the unknowing Valentina to be shipped off to Salvatore and his twin brothers, Valentina finds herself finding out some truths about her father and 3 brothers, She finds herself alone, trying to survive and adjust to a life she was never a part of until now. Along with an obsessed stalker from her past intent on having her, she is thrown into chaos, torture, fear, danger and humiliation. She is met with hatred and suspicion from Sal and lust and sexuality from the twin brothers, Fausto and Armani.
You'll find an exciting and entertaining mafia story filled with intrigue, a cast of fun characters, a fast burn and a slow burn romance as well with some very steamy scenes. This reverse harem is well written and had me reading every page with interest and ease. The relationships between Val and each of the brothers is written with tact and are individually great on their own but yet so much better with the three together. Their characters each compliment with parts of Val that makes their harem work well together.
My only wish is to have had more time with Val and Sal's love connection. I absolutely love the rooftop scene in the end. I think it's the best way to end their story.
