Mourning Wood by Heather M. Orgeron is one of my favorite Small Town, Contemporary romance, romcom books that is filled with humor, banter and angst. I truly love this story so much I can't stop talking about it.

It's about a single mom, Whitney, who meets her friend's cousin, Wyatt at a pre wedding party. She's on a mission to have a "first". Of course, she's not a virgin since she has a daughter, Prissy.

Well, Wyatt was all too willing to be her first at anything.

A certain dumpster makes an appearance and her first one night stand is just the first of many firsts.

After 2 years they find each other again when Wyatt moves to the same town as Whitney, who happens to be the daughter of the small town's mortuary. Yes, my friends, a mortuary.

Having a 6 year old daughter living in a mortuary brings in so much humor and Prissy just really stole the story. She is odd, unique, original and such a loveable character that says what she thinks without hesitation.

Wyatt and Whitney are thrown into some very funny moments including panty, a dildo, a dead body and so much more. Their love story is entertaining to say the least.

And oh! I can't forget another loveable character....Rufus/Sprinkles the spotted dane. I love dogs, so I had to mention him.

Mourning Wood by Heather M. Orgeron is a book I will read over and over again.

Here's my soul dog and book buddy, Pippa, hanging out while reading Mourning Wood.

Pippa gives Mourning Wood a 6 licks rating with a side of hot fudge sundae.
