Maya Hughes is one of my favorite authors. I’ve read all her books and love every one of them. She does college romance so good, I just wish I had gone to one when I was younger. I feel so left out. LOL! So going into this latest book, I knew it would not disappoint.
The Kiss List is about not letting fear dictate your life. Two individuals with crappy parents leaving them without a role model to help them navigate through a healthy relationship.
Cole and Kennedy are desperate to win a Puppy Love school competition where couples show their love and students vote on who showed their love best. The winning prize is either a trip to France or Golf Resort. The only problem....they're not a couple. In fact, they hate each other.
Kennedy is determined to win the France trip for herself and her younger sister and escape the family turmoil at home.
Cole wants to win the golf trip to try and coax his estranged dad to go with him in order to fulfill his promise to his mom and hopes to bond with him.
They enter this partnership with a fake relationship and trying to out do each other with over the top gestures. Cole really shows his romantic side with his romantic gestures which made me fall in love with him.
Will they win the competition? Which one of the prizes would they pick? Will they fall in love while pretending to be in love? What happened that one "botched" night to make them hate each other?
The antics are fun. The love scenes are steamy. It's truly an enjoyable book that offers friendships and family and proves that blood is, sometimes, not thicker than water.
This book is a part of the STFU series but can be read out of order. I'm looking forward to reading about all the characters in the story. Reid was written first and Ezra is coming in about a month, so read them now to get caught up in all things STFU!
Maya Hughes has also written the Fulton U series which is STFU's rival. I devoured those books and I love the surprise easter eggs. My favorite from the Fulton U series is Berk's story. This one has a girl with a natural figure and was refreshing in my opinion.
This is my soul dog and book buddy, Pippa. I'm having a little bowl of Kellogg's Corn Pops, no milk, while reading. Do you much on cereal without milk??
Pippa rates The Kiss List by Maya Hughes a whopping 5 licks with a side of corn pops, of course!!
